How to Make a Non-Disclosure Agreement in Transcription

sample non-disclosure agreementA Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) or a Confidentiality Agreement is an agreement made, in writing, between a client and a transcriber to prevent him/her from sharing confidential information with third parties. This is done to ensure safety and security of files transmitted to the transcriber.

Everything you need to know about a non-disclosure agreement as a transcriber

confidential

1. Confidentiality

Never disclose identity of people or companies mentioned in the audio recordings.

2. Safety & Security

When working on client files make sure they are on a password-protected computer that is only accessible to you.

3. No Duplicates

Never be tempted to make copies of the files without the client’s permission. Doing this may lead to legal action being taken against you and can lead to you ending up in jail.

4. Delete Files

When you are done with the project delete all of the files in your possession. This means both raw audio files and the finished transcripts to avoid restricted people from accessing the private information.

5. No Third Parties

Under no circumstances should you forward confidential information to third parties without the consent of the client.

6. Return completed work in a timely manner

When done with the project make sure you return everything on the agreed date. Do not withhold any material belonging to the client.

As a transcriber of this project, I understand that I will be hearing audio/video recordings of private and confidential one-on-one interviews. The information relayed in these audio/video recordings has been willingly revealed by participants who requested for strict confidentiality of the files. I understand that I have a huge responsibility of honoring this non-disclosure agreement.

I solely agree not to share any information found in the audio/video recordings with any third parties except the owner. Violating this agreement or any of the terms set below will be considered breach of contract and can lead to legal action being taken against me. I am confirming that I will strictly adhere to the agreement in full.

I, Virginia Nakitari, agree to:

  3. Never be tempted to make copies of the files without the client’s permission.

  4. Delete all of the files in my possession and any other related information after consultation with the client.

  5. Not share or forward confidential information to third parties without the consent of the client.

  6. Return all files to the client after completion on the agreed date. I will not withhold any material belonging to the client.
